Gooseberry Falls, MN

Kenobi and I headed north on Thursday, September 7, 2016 to camp and hike along the North Shore in Minnesota. It was a long, but beautiful drive from Chicago, through Wisconsin, past Duluth to our first stop, Gooseberry Falls campground. Thunderstorms were predicted, so I was anxious to get the tent up and fasten a... Continue Reading →

Not So Early Sunday Morning

We didn't get a really early start as we usually do, but the temperature rose above 40 which makes for a more enjoyable walk through the woods. We started before 8:00 a.m. and returned home at 10:57 a.m. Nice, long exploration on a gorgeous Sunday morning! We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of... Continue Reading →

On the Minister’s Creek Hikes

We had planned to stay at Allegheny National Park for three nights. Our arrival was later than expected, so there wasn't much time to hike Friday. We wandered around the camp area and explored a little before going to sleep. Kenobi wasn't fond of the tent. He examined it as he does everything. Our first... Continue Reading →

Day One at the Falls

Our first day out, we walked to Niagara Falls National Park. It's about an eight-minute walk from the Hanover House. We wandered the entire walking trail on the U.S. Side. Not much of a hike, but a really nice walk. We started around Goat Island, ventured out across Three Sister's Islands and back, and continued... Continue Reading →

Driving to Niagara Falls

We got a late start. Google maps estimated time of trip was just under seven hours. We left at 5:00 pm.... Continue Reading →

Happy Anniversary!

As of yesterday, Kenobi and I have been together for one year. It's been quite a year with paw cuts, allergic reactions, new territory, many friends, and a couple not-so-friendly encounters, but overall a wonderful year with happiness and warmth. Kenobi makes friends everywhere he goes, and people are always asking to pet him. Small... Continue Reading →

Saturday in the Park

Yesterday was a cool and cloudy day--perfect for a long, morning walk. And we met several people and sniffed a few new hinies. A woman from the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas kept us talking for a while about their terrier who hates storms and hides in her closet, her coaching a Special Olympics soccer...
