This morning we walked at Winnemac Park that is next to Amundsen HS. It’s a nice walk around ball fields, a soccer field, tennis courts, and a stadium. There is an amazing wild flower and prairie grass garden with a walking path. It reminds me of the wild flowers we walked through on the Rainbow Trail in Colorado, but an easier walk on the path.
Right next to the high school, there are several vegetable gardens.
They are full of corn, peppers, tomatoes, basil, parsely, and leeks. Sun flowers stand guard. The gardens look as if they might be a school project–very successful. It is awesome that they haven’t been trampled or vandalized in any way.
We met lots of dogs and young children. Everyone is open and friendly.
